He says this could go a long way towards solving the match officiating crisis which has engulfed the PSL in the first four months of the 2019/2020 season.

The PSL’s commitment to even discuss the possible introduction of the VAR comes just a week after the Botola Premier League in Morocco became the first African professional football league to use VAR in one of its games. Khoza says there are no timelines yet around this innovation but agrees that it’s urgent.




Almost in every round of matches played in the PSL so far, there’s been some contentious match officiating decisions and this has also seen some coaches being charged by the PSL disciplinary committee for comments made in challenging these match officiating decisions.

Khoza says the introduction of the VAR could help to solve this situation and it appears as if the PSL has done its homework already on this matter.
